Adult Newsletter No 11

It has been a week or so since the last Adult Newsweek, and there has been plenty of action since then. There was a rare occurance in Tymon Park in their Division 1 Game against Ballymun Kickhams, when after 26 minutes, the game had to be abandoned due to an injury to the referee. It was an unfortunate incident, with Judes ahead by one point at the time. The game will be scheduled for a later date. On the pitch across from them, the Intermediate Footballers missed a good chance for victory when Garda secured a point with a last minute free. Meanwhile the Junior B team had a tough enough time of it, losing a 7 point lead at half time to only claim a draw in their league game against James Gaels, while losing out convincingly to top of the table Park Rangers. The Junior A Team continued on from where they left off with two more wins over James Gaels and Finians of Swords. They remain in contention for the league at this crucial stage of the season. They have lost two of their players with Mark Kavanagh and Pa Tobin moving to Australia and Canada respectively. John Dineen and his team wish the two lads all the very best on their new adventures. In their other games, the Senior Footballers played a great game in winning away against St.Vincents by 2-11 to 1-11 with goals coming from Shay Ryan and Peter Harlow. The Intermediate Footballers lost their game by 4 points against Ballymun Kickhams. We are entering a very busy month in terms of fixtures so we wish all the teams the best of success. Other News

It was an historic night in St.Judes last Saturday as the club celebrated the first of the Presidents Volunteer Awards Night. The theme of the night was for our outgoing President, Sean Breheny, to nominate 5 people he thinks should be rewarded for the volunteer activity for St.Judes. As we all know, if it were not for the endless work of many of the volunteers that make St.Judes the club it is today, we would be nowhere near as successful as we are now. Sadly, Sean could only pick 5 from a huge amount of people, but the 5 that were picked were popular winners who have done so much for St.Judes GAA Club, and without question deserve the recognition they received on Saturday night. The five winners were:

Bobby Carty

Colum Grogan

Joe McDonald

Mary Joyce

Geraldine Mangan

All members of St.Judes would like to congratulate the winners on their fantastic achievement and we are positive that they will continue to do the work that got them their in the first place. Our thanks also to Sean on some brilliant speeches in explaining his nominations. Well done also to Colum Grogan who received an award for his fantastic work as Chairman of the Sevens Committee where he worked tirelessly and made St.Judes a club recognized all over the country due to the terrific work done in organizing this great event.

Dublin

We would like to wish Kevin and Brendan McManamon the very best of luck as they embark on what we hope will be Dublin’s first All-Ireland since 1995. Dublin play Wexford on Sunday and based on their league performances, it would be very surprising if both of the lads are not involved on Sunday. They have done the club proud to be named on the squad so lets hope they go one step further.

Tickets for the game will be handed out on Thursday night, and only Fully Paid members can avail of tickets.

Presidents Cup Golf

Well done to Mark Carroll and his team who regained the Presidents Cup Golf trophy for another year. They were resounding victors over Peter Coates’s team and won by a margin of 10-2. Yet again it was a brilliant day out, and while the scoreline might have been tighter, there is little doubt that this was a success for both societies and the club as a whole.
