St Jude's 3-10 St Margaret's 3-06
Jude's started off very strongly in this Cup match, which was played in dreadful conditions on Wednesday evening in Tymon. By half time, when Jude's should have been out of sight, they were only 1 point up. Margaret's got the first score in the 2nd half and that seemed to shock Jude's into action. They were a lot tighter in the middle third of the pitch and Aoife Burke was brought back to the half backline where one of the Margaret's players was doing a lot of damage and it made a big difference. Herself and Roisin Nolan must have clocked up a marathon between them because they were all over the pitch! Jude's also passed the ball out a lot better in the 2nd half - mainly because more people made themselves available for the pass - making it easier for the person on the ball. Majella made some great catches in the goal - especially for a wet night and could do nothing about any of the goals that went in. As usual for this Jude's team, some of the scoring chances were spurned but in the end another under hit point that ended up in the net with about 10 minutes to go decided things. From there on Jude's weren't going to be beaten. The 2nd half was probably some of the best football played all year. Next instalment is away to Finian's of Swords next Wednesday evening where the ladies hope to make it a clean sweep in the cup. Either way they should be in the cup final by now.
