McManamon shoots Judes to victory
ST JUDES 0-13 ST OLIVER PLUNKETTS/ER 0-10
The men from Tymon North booked a semi-final appointment against St
Marys of Saggart when they showed the better nerve in this Evening
Herald Dublin SFC quarter-final replay at Parnell Park on Wednesday
night.
Judes continued where they left off in the drawn game and led 0-7 to 0-3 at the interval.
However, with seven minutes to play Plunketts had edged in front by a
point but their shooting was letting them down - much as it had two
seasons ago when Judes toppled them at the same stage of the
championship. The wides tally of 13 v 2 tells its own tale.
Kevin McManamon continued a fine campaign by lodging another impressive
showing. It was his accuracy which ultimately divided the sides.
Yet by the 43rd minute they were level
on 0-8 each following four unanswered points from Gareth Smith, sub Adrian Darcy, Jason Sherlock and a Bernard Brogan free.
A fine Kevin McManamon point edged Judes in front again before
Alan Brogan released his younger brother who tried to ease the ball over Paul Copeland - it bounced narrowly wide.
Bernard then equalised before a combination involving Anthony Moyles and Sherlock saw Darcy nudge Plunketts in front.
The match was in the melting pot - a case of they who dared won as
Kevin McManamon fired over two points and Andy Glover another as Judes
put in a sprint finish to claim victory and ensure it is all southside
teams in the last four.
