St. Judes Golf Society

Judes Golf August 11 2006 001a.jpg Thumbnail1.jpgIt was in the area now known as the ‘Confession Box’ that the Golfing Society was born. After weeks of chatting and planning, the ‘founding eight’ consumed gallons of Arthur’s Brew as they drew up the articles for the new body. While golf was the number one priority, right from the start the new committee placed emphasis on fun. And what fun has been had by all in its years of existence.

tn IMG 0307.JPG Thumbnail1.jpgAfter a few months of intense planning, the calendar for 1994 was announced on February 16th and the honour of staging the first outing fell to Castlewarden. Liam Larking came up with the sponsorship from Gouldings and has remained the sponsor for the first outing of the year ever since. Since the society has prospered. The first Classic was staged at St Margarets on 27th August, 1997. It was a splendid success and raised a huge sum for the club. The Classic has now become part and parcel of the club year.
