The inaugural All-Ireland Under 13 Camogie Sevens
took place last Saturday 12thSeptember in Naomh Jude Camogie Club,
Tymon Park, Templeogue, Dublin 6w.
This Championship is officially approved by Cumann
Camógaíochta na nGael and it is a first chance to win an All-Ireland
Championship for players and for their clubs in pre-Féile year.
Teams taking part were the 2008 Under 12 Camogie
Champions in the following senior counties: Toomevara (Tipperary), Clarinbridge
(Galway), Valley Rovers (Cork), Thomastown (Kilkenny), Lucan Sarsfields
(Dublin), Oulart The Ballagh (Wexford), Na Piarsaigh (Limerick) and the host
club Naomh Jude.
The Competition was won by Toomevara
who went through the entire day unbeaten and were captained by Aideen Hogan who
received the Trophy from Jim Hyland CEO of Sponsors Johnstone Mooney
and O'Brien. Toomevara topped their group which included Clarinbridge, Lucan
Sarsfields and Na Piarsaigh from Limerick, they then saw of Thomastown from
Kilkenny before beating Valley Rovers from Inishshannon in County Cork in
the Final. To top of a perfect day for the Tipp girls their Star player
Cliodhna Ryan was awarded player of the tournament and received a trophy from
St Judes Chairman Declan Doyle.
