Covid-19 Update – Safe Return to Gaelic Games
Message from the Chairman
The announcements by both the Government and the GAA at the weekend were very positive and welcome, and it is great now to have a clear roadmap for a return to Gaelic Games, which we have missed so much over the last number of weeks
I’m sure you are all trawling through the guidelines document and the media coverage to understand what it all means, and how it will be practically implemented, but I would ask all members to please be as patient as you have been to now, and wait for the 29th June before returning to formal training activity.
There will be a lot of work over the next 3 weeks to organise compliant facilities and schedules, carry out the required online training, appoint the administrative roles required to implement the protocols, and for coaches to adapt training plans accordingly
It is essential that everyone in the Club works together to ensure compliance with these guidelines so we can continue to move forward, and we will be in touch to let you know how this is progressing
One of the requirements of the GAA guidelines is to circulate the document in full to all members to ensure awareness with the requirements, so please circulate to your relevant section of the Club. We will ensure that it also gets distributed through the general distribution channels also - attached here for ease.

Press Release from GAA :
The GAA, An Cumann Camogaíochta and the LGFA have published ( 5th June 2020 ) a plan for a safe return to Gaelic games for the three organisations.
The plan (attached) is the work of a specially appointed Advisory Committee, which included representatives of all three bodies, the GPA and a number of medical experts (see below for committee members).
It offers a route back to activity, subject to the government timelines being achieved in the weeks and months ahead.
It is broken down into sections covering Medical Advice; Preparing for a Safe Return; Information for Players and Team Personnel; Summary and Checklist; Roadmap for Return to Activity
Some of the stand-out elements of the report include:
· A gradual return to on-field non-contact activity in Phase Three of the Government plan in small groups.
· The need for an online education programme and new measures around temperature checking and completed documentation before training and games.
· A return to contact sport on July 20.
· Provisional windows for club activity and the return of inter-county training and competitions.
The document mirrors the Government roadmap and outlines the opt-in approach of the wider Gaelic games family regarding a possible return to activity and play.
It is being distributed to all units today with a view to providing them with time to put in place the necessary arrangements to facilitate a return to activity.
